Green tea is derived from the plant “Camelia Sinensus”. There are other types of teas like White Tea, Oolong Tea, Black Tea etc. And ofcourse, one of the most famous variant of tea in India is the Masala Chai. Many teas are often a blend of two or more types of teas stated above. Herbal teas are 'infusions' of any herb: fruit, flower, plant (not Camelia Sinensus), spices etc. that is steeped or infused in water to produce tea. Our popular Herbal Teas are: Chamomile Tea, Peppermint Tea.
The medicinal properties of teas are directly proportional to the amount of the antioxidants present it the same. Which also depends on the kind of leaves being used and the way they are processed. More processed teas have lower levels of antioxidants in them. Also, all teas are processed differently hence carrying varying levels of antioxidants, caffeine and calories.
With polyphenolic compounds including catechins, theaflavins, thearubigins, teas are known for their antioxidant properties. Antioxidants also improve the metabolic rate of the body that is also known for breaking down obesity causing bad cholesterol. Drinking green tea for healthy lifestyle might be recommended and advocated by numerous research studies but none concretely proves if green tea can help reduce weight. Green Tea is virtually calorie free and contains catechins, which helps break down excess body fat and balanced with a proper diet, green tea might help lose weight.
Green Tea contains a very minimal amount of caffeine, which is way less than the caffeine content of other teas like black tea etc.
Chamomile Tea does not contain sugar unless added by the individual.
